Volunteer Opportunities with 2-1-1 Maine

Volunteer in the Call Center

Description: Calling for help can often be the hardest part of getting it. Be that voice on the phone that helps callers with the information they need. 2-1-1 Maine, a state-wide information and referral line, is looking for a team of volunteers to help call specialists with special projects and when call volume is expected to be high (i.e. in times of emergency, during heating season and for special projects). Volunteer to be the first person people call when they need help. Volunteers will also assist with the programs’ follow-up, quality assurance process on a monthly basis.

Requirements: Volunteers should have ability to multi-task and utilize the computer while processing calls. Computer and good phone skills are necessary. Volunteers will need to have a background check and interview. Orientation and training are provided.

Volunteer in the Resource Department

Description: Are you organized, attentive to detail, a people person who is comfortable on the phone? Are you interested in working with a great team?

Volunteers will assist the 2-1-1 Maine Resource Department Managers with maintaining the accuracy of the Resource Directory by contacting and obtaining current data from agencies listed in the database.

Requirements: Knowledge of Excel preferred. Basic program overview and task specific training provided by Resource Managers.
